Nutritional Therapy
As a trained NHS nurse, Lisa’s unique skill base enables her to integrate the latest in Western medical knowledge with the ancient healing traditions of the East.
After suffering from many chronic health problems including M.E / CFS, gynaecolological issues and IBS, Lisa became very interested in complementary medicine and used many different therapies in her search for good health.
During 20 years of both private and NHS practice, Lisa has supported many patients to overcome a wide range of health problems, such as IBS, headaches, migraines, fatigue, stress, weight problems, hormonal imbalances, skin conditions, M.E / C.F.S, infertility, depression and digestive disorders. She also has a large client base of long-term patients who visit her periodically to monitor and maintain their health and vitality.
Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic approach to health and nutrition, concentrating on the underlying cause rather than simply treating the symptoms. What you put into your body in the form of food and liquid is probably the single most important factor in the creation of health and disease.
“I would recommend Lisa to anyone. She has helped me and my family so much with her skill and knowledge and years of experience. She has helped us with food intolerance testing and nutritional advice and she has always been extremely kind, efficient and professional. I am always reassured by her medical background and training but she also seems to have an instinctive feel and insights into things. She has helped me with my M.E. and has also helped my daughter who has had years of tummy problems – and who is now well and fighting fit! I am very grateful to Lisa and would recommend her to anyone. Her Reflexology is pretty amazing too. I drove home afterwards feeling twenty years younger!” Judith, Norfolk.
Nutritional Therapy is the relationship of foods to the health of the human body. Good nutrition means that all the essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats and water are supplied and utilised in adequate balance to maintain optimal health and well-being. Nutritional deficiencies will occur when inadequate amounts of these essential nutrients are provided to the tissues, thus resulting in illness and disease.Unfortunately, in today’s modern world, many of us do not have a healthy, balanced diet. Even though obesity is on the increase, many of the population are in fact malnourished. It has been proven that ‘optimum nutrition’ lowers cholesterol better than any drug, halves the recovery time from infections and dramatically increases energy. It is the key to successful weight loss and has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and help to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. The World Health Organization, which is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards and assessing health trends, says that: “Good nutrition – an adequate, well balanced diet combined with regular physical activity – is a cornerstone of good health. Poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, increased susceptibility to disease, impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity.”
Consultations
First appointments last approximately an hour and a half and involve talking in depth about the nature of your concerns and your day-to-day lifestyle, discussing your questionnaire and covering things like your diet, exercise, exposure to stress and physical and emotional well-being. This helps Lisa identify the underlying factors in your life that may be triggering poor health.
Lisa will then make specific recommendations regarding lifestyle, exercise, diet, relaxation etc. She will also recommend any health supplements or products which may support your health and wellbeing.
As part of this discussion, Lisa will agree with you a realistic and achievable health plan. The plan gives clear guidance about the changes you may need to make in your lifestyle to achieve your health goals. It is a ‘bespoke’ plan, individually tailored to your personal circumstances, so you will be able to stick to it whatever challenges and priorities you may be juggling in your life, such as work or family related commitments or financial pressures.
